Microphlebectomy
|
Microphlebectomy Microphlebectomy is also termed ambulatory phlebectomy (see reference section), and was introduced, developed, and popularized by Robert Muller, MD, of Switzerland. Rather than using large incisions and general or spinal anesthesia which has been typically used by surgeons, dermatologist Muller used tumescent anesthesia and tiny incisions. Specially designed hooks (Muller, Ramelet , and Varady) are used to extract the vein, which is then grasped by mosquito forceps and removed by gentle dissection and traction.
